Mildred Kolb

Mildred M. Kolb - Kaukauna - Age 95, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020. She was born on May 17, 1925, in Sheboygan to the late Hugo and Alma (Rotstead) Eisner. Mildred graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1943. She married Eugene Kolb on July 24, 1948, and was married to Eugene for 68 years before his passing in 2016. They were blessed with three children – Nancy, Glen and Gary. Mildred’s father passed away when she was 5 years old. She was raised by a single mother, who relied on relatives to care for Mildred and her sister, Lorene. From that experience, caring for and assisting others became a way of life for Mildred. It also led to a strong work ethic, easy-going and outgoing personality and a positive outlook on any challenges. Mildred worked as a secretary before having children and again later. Employers included Allis Chalmers, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the Brown Deer School District. Eugene’s career with AT&T involved numerous moves throughout eastern Wisconsin. During that period, Mildred established long-lasting friendships in different cities, in addition to maintaining close contact with Sheboygan friends, including several high school classmates. Her desire to stay in touch with friends, combined with her secretarial skills, led to a strong interest in letter writing, including personalized notes with holiday and birthday cards. Mildred had a variety of skills and interests. Cooking, entertaining, playing card games and meeting with friends were at the top of the list. She loved dogs and her natural athleticism became evident later in life from her speed walking; following a casual interest in ice skating and tennis in her younger years. Mildred and Eugene enjoyed many years in retirement. They travelled extensively, including trips to Asia and Europe, as well as throughout the USA. Retirement left more time for visiting with friends and relatives as well as volunteering. Eugene and Milly were active in the Shriners organization for many years and they volunteered for the Salvation Army bell ringing and Christmas gift distribution. Mildred also enjoyed doing volunteer work at museums and historical sites. Mildred is survived by her three children: Nancy (Jerry) Hayes of Kaukauna, Glen (Anna) Kolb of Orlando and Gary (Ann Henderson) Kolb of Atlanta; grandchildren: Erika (Erik) Berendsen, Gretchen (Jim) Danielson, Kyle (Kylie) Hayes, Tyler Kolb and Kelsey Kolb; great-grandchildren: Macy, Hadley and Kale Berendsen, Bayla, Irie and Brecken Danielson and Jayda and Finley Hayes. She is also survived by her sister-in-law: Annette Schaefer, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband: Eugene (2016), sister: Lorene Gebler, sister-in-law: Carol Kolb and brothers-in-law: Allan Gebler, Carl Kolb and Lowell Schaefer. A funeral service will not be held due to the COVID pandemic. Her immediate family will honor her in a private family gathering. Mildred will be laid to rest, next to her husband, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Sheboygan. A memorial fund will be established.
