Edward Jakl

Edward Jakl - Kaukauna - Age 84, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on June 28, 2021. He was born at home on June 1, 1937, to parents Bernice and Edward Jakl, Sr., and attended Holy Cross Grade School, Kaukauna High School, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He lettered in track in high school, regularly participating in state tournaments. Ed married Catherine Weber on Sept. 1, 1972, at All Saints Church in Denmark. Ed was proud of his service as a Marine from 1956 until 1958 and served in the Philippines. For 36 years, he worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper as a tow motor operator and maintenance machinist. Ed loved to serve the community and was a proud member of the Kaukauna Lion’s Club and the Knights of Columbus. He loved to ride the Lions Club float in the annual Kaukauna Christmas parade, throwing candy to all the children. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed the challenge of the game. He traveled extensively around the United States with his wife and kids, and later on, his grandkids. He is survived by beloved wife of 48 years: Catherine, and children: Rebecca (Chad) Shaeuble, Aaron Jakl, and Amanda (Kelly McKay) Jakl; grandchildren: Alex Brittnacher, Hannah Brittnacher, and Isabella Schaeuble; and siblings: Patricia Diny, Jerold Jakl, Carol DeValk, and Tom Jakl. He was preceded in death by parents: Bernice and Edward, brother: Ronald of Utah and sister: Marie of California. The funeral Mass with full military honors was held July 2 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks, with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Ed’s name to the Kaukauna Lions Club or Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity.
