Robert Merbach

Robert Louis “Bob” Merbach - Kaukauna - Age 79, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home with his wife at his side on Saturday, July 31, 2021. He was born on Aug. 8, 1941, son of the late Rudolph Sr. and Geneva (Kanter) Merbach. Bob worked at Thilmany Papers for 40 years before his retirement. He enjoyed sturgeon spearing and playing cards with his family and friends. He was a true farm boy at heart. Bob loved to tinker in his garage and kept it extremely organized. Bob had a heart of gold and always saw the best in everyone. He was a big teddy bear and was always available to listen when his family needed to talk. We will all miss him immensely. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Betty (Verhagen) Merbach; daughters: Jenny (Jeff) Rollo and Lisa (Clint) Tesch; Betty’s children: Brian (Heidi) Frelich, Kevin (Penny) Frelich, Laurie (Mike) Dunn and Robby (Jenny) Frelich; grandchildren: Megan (Jordan), Jaimy (Ryan), Dylan (Jenny), Tiffany (Derek), Tyler, Kyle (Adri), Holly (Shawn), Hannah (J.R.), Kalvin, Brooke, Spencer, Jenean, Robby Jr. (Nessa) and Brandon; several great-grandchildren; brothers: Rudy Jr. (Elaine), twin brother Ron (Muriel) and Dick (Pati) Merbach; Betty’s two sisters and eight brothers; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Geneva Merbach; and Betty’s parents, Rich and Monnie Verhagen. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, a private family service was held.
