Kevin Buskager

Kevin Joseph Buskager - Kaukauna - Age 36, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, from natural causes at Theda Care-Appleton, with his family by his side. Kevin was born on Dec. 24, 1985, in Kaukauna, the son of John and Karen Buskager. Kevin resided the last five years in Denver, Colo. Kevin’s education began at Holy Cross School where his love of religion was ignited. Kevin graduated Kaukauna High School, the Class of 2004.  He earned his undergraduate degree from UW Oshkosh in June of 2011 with majors in philosophy, anthropology and religious studies.   During his time at UWO, Kevin also traveled to study abroad in Cambridge, England. Kevin earned his Master’s degree from the University of Denver in 2018.  As a student in the Master’s program he was privileged and proud to be a research assistant to a renowned professor in the department in the development and publication of three books. Kevin was continuing his PHD of Religious Studies in the joint doctorate program thru Iliff School of Theology and University of Denver. Kevin was a huge hockey fan and cheered on his alma mater, the Denver Pioneers, every chance he could. He was a movie critic, music lover and even played bass guitar in several local bands, including Shaken not Stirred.  Kevin was one to never turn down a good craft beer. Kevin made an impression on everyone he met. He was kind, giving and most of all compassionate.  He believed there is simply nothing greater in life than feeling personally understood by someone else.  This was a gift Kevin loved to give.  True friendship was something to cherish. Kevin will be remembered as the best uncle ever. His five nieces and two great-nephews were the highlight of his life and he spoiled them every chance he could. Wonderful memories of root beer floats and ABBA music will live on in their hearts forever. Because of their closeness in age, he was more of a big brother than an uncle to his nieces. He was always looking out for them. Kevin is survived by his parents: John and Karen Buskager; siblings: Kathy (John) Soffa, Ann (Stuart) Clish and Steven Buskager; nieces: Olivia Hartzheim, Gina (Noah) Pleshek, Brittany (Joe) Lautenschlager, Kimberly Clish and Meghan Clish; great-nephews: Owen Hutchison and Miles Pleshek. He is further survived by extended family and many friends. Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Grover (Pat) and Delores (Sis) Patterson, paternal grandparents: Albert and Thea Buskager, and two uncles. Visitation will be held at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home KAUKAUNA LOCATION, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, on Thursday, Feb. 10, from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Fr.
