Kimberly trustees approve fewer fire inspections

An amendment to the fire and fire prevention ordinance, reducing the frequency of fire inspection to a minimum of one per year, was approved by the Kimberly Village Board last week.
The reduction includes public buildings and places of employment within the Village. The reduction would reduce the number of fire inspections required from one every six months to one per year, provided the interval between those inspections does not exceed 15 months. The change will assist with scheduling inspectors’ available hours to do inspections and allow inspectors to do inspections twice per year for those businesses specifically requesting it and those with repeated issues.
Fire department inspectors are part-time and available time is limited.
Trustees passed the preliminary assessment resolution for 2022 reconstruction and improvement projects. Projects will take place on Emons Road from Pinecrest Boulevard to Main street. The project includes base coarse, concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer, mini-storm sewer, concrete driveway aprons, turf restoration, new sidewalk and street lighting.
The public hearing on the projects will be held at 6 p-m February 28 at the Village Hall.
The Village Board approved the playground option for VanDaalwyk Park chosen chosen overwhelmingly by students at Westside Elementary School. The equipment includes one long slide and one short slide, a climbing wall and rubber play surface. The original swings will be retained.
Trustees were asked to vote on the project now to facilitate installation before the end of the school year, which will allow the students to see the progress within this school year and make a trip to the park before the end of the school year. The Synergy Modular Playstructure is being purchased from and installed by Lee Recreation Projects at a cost of $50,235.
This year’s plan for WE Energies LED street lighting conversion work was approved by trustees at a cost of $15,555.
The Village Board approved amendments to the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission membership composition. The amendments describe municipal membership on the commission, terms of office, commission alternates and resignations.
