Joe Verhagen - Age 65, was welcomed into his heavenly home on Sept. 19, 2022, with his family by his side following a brave battle with cancer. God welcomed him saying the words we all long to hear “well done, my good and faithful one, welcome to the place where you belong.” Joe was born on March 16, 1957, son of Theresa (Pynenberg) Verhagen and the late Paul Verhagen. He married Chris Wegand on Oct. 20, 1978. Joe loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and spending time on his tractor working his land in Iola. Joe always had a project going on and could fix or renovate anything. Joe loved his family. He worked hard and took pride in supporting them. He had a great work ethic, instilling that in his children. He worked several places including Eggers Industries, Appleton Coated and Design Air. Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years: Chris Verhagen; children: Paul (Jolene) Verhagen, Laura (Randy) Schmidt and Sam (Emily) Verhagen; grandchildren: Noah and David Verhagen, Natalie and Mason Schmidt, Wade Verhagen; his mother: Theresa Verhagen; siblings: Paula Hash, Jay (Special friend Judy) Verhagen, Keith (Lori) Verhagen, Ken Verhagen and Sara (Pat) Weyenberg; in-laws: Ron (Jackie) Wegand, Doris Wegand, Tim (Jill) Wegand, Jim (Jeanne) Wegand and Joe (Margie) Wegand; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joe was preceded in death by his father: Paul Verhagen; father and mother-in-law: Bob and Rita Wegand; brothers-in-law: Don Wegand and Dave Hash and sister-in-law: Barb Wegand. Memorial services were held Sept. 26 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Interment in St. John Cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
