Barbara LaCount

Barbara M. LaCount - Age 77, passed away on Dec. 28, 2022. She was born May 27, 1945, to parents Floyd and Trudie (Golembiewski) Halverson in Menasha. Barb grew up in Menasha with her brother Tom and graduated from St Mary High School in 1963. She met the young man, Donald LaCount, who would be the love of her life by looking across her front yard. She married Donald LaCount in 1964 after five years of dating and they raised their son Brad in Kaukauna along with what seemed an endless companionship from their dogs over the years including Pierre, Sassy, Max and currently Buddy. Barb enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and always made time for them after school and during summer break. She was a fixture at their events and an ever-present supporter of all their activities. Barb worked as a secretary at St. Alousius Elementary School and then ended her working career as a human resources benefits administrator for The Paper Factory and Party Concepts of Wisconsin. Scrapbooking, puzzles, time in the gazebo birdwatching and reading as well as traveling around the country were passions for Barb. She and Don visited many states across the country including two visits to Hawaii while attending National Elks conventions. Barb is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, son: Brad (Kristin) and grandchildren: Talia (Ben) Quella, Noah (Rachel Gerbitz) LaCount and Anna (Andrew Fandrey) LaCount. She is further survived by her friend and dog: Buddy who misses her greatly and is now happily sharing more snuggle time with Don. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother: Tom. A funeral liturgy for Barb will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at St Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9 a.m. until the start of mass. Barb will be interred at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have donations made to either St. Elizabeth Hospital or St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, for their dedicated and compassionate care that Barb received over the years.
