Gerald Trettin

Kaukauna

Gerald Norbert Trettin - Kaukauna - Age 93, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Aspire Senior Living, Kimberly. He was born on Nov. 29, 1929, in Kaukauna to the late Otto and Minnie (Sasnowski) Trettin. Gerald graduated from Kaukauna High School, the Class of 1947, and was employed with his father at Day and Nite Auto Station in Kaukauna for many years before and after his Army service in Korea from 1951 to 1953. Gerald was united in marriage to Mary Albert on June 25, 1960, at United Methodist Church, Neenah. He attended Spartan School for Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., from September of 1960 to March of 1962. After his father’s retirement he and his brother, Kenneth, ran the station together until 1980. He then worked for Balza’s D-X until March of 1987 when he became employed with Gustman’s of Kaukauna. He worked there until his retirement in November of 1994. On April 2015, he went on the Honor Flight with his son Scott. He was a member of Peace United Methodist Church, Kaukauna, and served on the trustees committee for several years as well as the choir. Gerald became a member of the EAA in 1964, and enjoyed the fly-ins held each summer. In his younger years, he was a licensed pilot and owned his own plane. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and small engine repair. Gerald is survived by his wife: Mary; four children: James (Carol) Trettin, Deb (Michael) Schultz, Scott (Shellie) Trettin, and Diane (John Lambert) Beach; seven grandchildren: Alex (Bridget), Tony, April (fiancé Tony Clark), and Abbi Beach; Justin Hartjes, Jaiden and Kaleb Trettin; a brother- and sister-in-law: Phil Wilms and Viginia Cramer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Gerald was further preceded in death by a brother: Kenneth (Janis) Trettin, and brothers- and sisters-in-law: Clara (William) Bastian, Hal Cramer, and Cynthia Wilms. A memorial service will be held at noon, on Thursday, May 18, at Peace United Methodist Church, 2300 E. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will be presented immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Peace United Methodist Church, Kaukauna or EAA for the Young Eagles Program.
