James Barribeau

James Clayton Barribeau - Brillion - Age 86, passed away at home on the evening of June 5, 2024. James was born in Goodman on Aug. 28, 1937, son of the late Alfred and Beatrice (Lemay) Barribeau. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Rose (Loderbauer) Barribeau, his son: James (Audrey) Barribeau, his son: Ed Barribeau, his son: Archie Barribeau, his daughter: Janet (Kevin) Steinbach, his daughter: Phyllis, and his brother: William (Charlotte) Barribeau. He had nine grandchildren. James was a graduate of Goodman High School. He joined the military in 1955 serving in the 10th Mountain Division in Germany. He also spent time at Camp Ort in California. James was employed and retired from the Thilmany mill in Kaukauna. In addition, to his job driving tow motor for Thilmany, he also had a career as bus driver at Kobussen Bus Company of Kaukauna. He drove both school bus and motor coach. He drove all over the country including trips to New York, Florida, and even out of country to Toronto, Canada. After retiring from driving, he took on a third career as a lawn care professional, most notably at Romo Durable Graphics. James was a classic car enthusiast with his favorites being the Hudson and Ford trucks. He also was very interested in history, specializing in geography and presidential history. He read most every day and archived notable events. He was a proud stockholder of McDonald’s, his favorite burger place. He enjoyed listening to Saturday morning Polka and Ernest Tubb, among other musicians. Above all he was an amazing father, loving grandfather, dedicated husband, and the kindest soul you’d ever meet. He took pride in serving others and had a way of combining witty humor with engaging storytelling to bring smiles on the faces of all who were fortunate to cross his path. James will live on by the lessons of humility, kindness, and gratefulness he shared with his loved ones. He will be missed enormously by his family and friends. The Barribeau family wishes to especially thank the Theda Clark Hospice caregivers (Angie, Tiffany, Ida, Erika) and nursing staff for their kindness, dedication, and wonderful care.
