Ivo J. Van Asten - Oak Run, Calif. - Age 99, passed away on Oct. 29, 2024. He was born on the family farm on Sept. 7, 1925, to John H. and Martha (Coonen) Van Asten. He attended three years at the Hermsen School and then attended St. John, Little Chute, for seven years. Ivo served in the U.S. Navy and took part in the Normandy Invasion. His civilian career was spent as an engineer. He was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 (Little Chute) and was laid to rest in a veteran’s cemetery in California. Ivo is survived by his wife: Nonie, and California family; his Wisconsin children: Marie Sigl, Paul Van Asten, and Tom Van Asten; sisters: Grace Gebhart, Joyce (Phil) Bruecker, and Marcy (Ron) Siebers; brothers: Leroy (Mary) Van Asten and John (Jane) Van Asten; and in-laws: Bernice Van Asten and Anna Marie Van Asten. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Sister Cyril Marie, Betty Bast, and Marie; brothers: Donald, Jerry, Jim, Cyril, and Ken; and in-laws: Gordon Waller, Orlando Gebhart, Romunda Van Asten, Mary Jane Van Asten, LeRoy Bast, Ruth Van Asten, Pete Mischler, Carl Buchinger, and Betty Van Asten. Private services were held in California.
