Rose Mary Green - Freedom - Age 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 16, 2025, at Country Villa. She was born on Nov. 29, 1929, daughter of the late Leonard and Theresa “Daisy” (Koskie) Ney. Rose Mary married Joseph Green on Jan. 22, 1952, and they were married for 42 years before his passing in 1994. Rose Mary graduated from Appleton High School and began her first job at Kimberly Clark in Neenah. She later worked in the assessor’s office in Appleton for many years. Rose Mary was a talented musician and played the organ at St. Nicholas in Freedom in her retirement. She loved her large garden, and was hard to beat at Scrabble or Words with Friends. Rose Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, counted cross stitch, braiding rugs, reading, puzzles, and bird watching. She also enjoyed relaxing at the family cottage on the Oconto River near Gillett. Rose Mary was talented at many things and was always ready to help when a need arose. She taught a number of women to drive, including some of the nuns at St. Nick. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she enjoyed many years of hosting holiday sing-a-longs. Time with her large family was most precious to her. Rose Mary is survived by her children: Richard (Cathy Stephani) Green, Ellen (David) Vissers, Donald (Becky Romenesko) Green, Donna Green, Mary (Steve) Bartels, Carl “Buck” (Jean Hietpas) Green, Karen (Jim) Foley; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law: John Fose; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rose Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph J. Green; two sons: Russ and Ken Green; parents: Leonard and Daisy Ney; siblings: George (Mary) Ney, James Ney, Mildred Fose and Patricia De Berard; in-laws: Alice (Edwin) Peterson, Agnes (Andrew) Weyers, Edna (Joseph) Rickert, Margaret (Anthony) Vanden Hoogen and Isabel Green. Her funeral Mass was held Feb. 25 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
