Daniel L. Geske - Age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025. He was born to Edward and Etta (McDermid) Geske on May 13, 1930. Daniel was a graduate of Kaukauna High School with the Class of 1948. While in high school, Dan was an avid boxer and earned the nickname “Muscles". After graduating, he served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-55 aboard the USS Essex Epic. On June 21, 1958, Daniel married the love of his life, Mary Ann Schroeder, at the Kaukauna Methodist Church and together they raised three wonderful children. Dan was employed as a plate maker at Thilmany for many years before retiring in 1989. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing and sturgeon spearing. He was an active member of the Appleton Masonic Lodge 349. Daniel and Mary Ann enjoyed spending their summers up north in Eagle River as well as the two months they spent in Florida every year. One of his and Mary Ann’s most cherished memories were their daily breakfast dates and car rides. In his later years, he enjoyed watching westerns and listening to polkas. Above all else, family was the most important to Daniel and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and the amazing memories they made over the years will live on forever through his family. Daniel is survived by his loving wife: Mary Ann Geske; children: Tom (Colleen) Geske, Kaukauna, Cynthia (Tom) Brick, Kaukauna, and Sarah (Bill) Berken, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Christy (Ryan) Hungerford, Chad Geske, Austin Brick, Jonathon Brick, and Kiley (fiancé Evan Gilbert) Berken; great-grandchildren: Taycen Hungerford, Adalie Hungerford, Ryker Geske, and Teagan Geske. He is further survived by his sister-in-law: Nancy Eick; special nephew: Dan Schubring, and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Etta; in-laws: Herman and Hilda Schroeder; sister: Gloria (George) Schubring; brothers and sisters-in-law: Melvin (Beatrice) Schroeder, Carl (Rita) Schroeder, Larry (Bev) Schroeder, Richard Schroeder, Millie (Jack) Verhasselt, Lucille (Greg) Southwell, and Mae (Bob) Gallagher. A Memorial Service for Daniel was held March 3 at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, with full military honors. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
