Bernie Menting

Combined Locks

Bernie J. Menting - Combined Locks Age 75, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on March 7, 2025. He was born on Nov. 13, 1949, son of the late Leo and Marie (Van Roy) Menting. On May 1, 1970, Bernie married Karen Vosters. He worked at the Combined Locks Mill for 42 years before his retirement. Bernie loved hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing and spending time at the cabin in the Dale Swamp. He was a man of many talents, and could find a way to fix or improve anything. Bernie enjoyed traveling and camping with his family, his favorite destination being Ada Lake. Spending time with his family was most important to him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bernie is survived by his wife of almost 55 years: Karen Menting; children: Mark (Paula) Menting, Billy (April) Menting, Cindy Menting and Vicky (David) Earle; grandchildren: Abby (Ryan) Carney, Emily (fiancé: Connor Chitko) Menting and Allison Menting, Noah, Seth and Eli Menting, Emma (Damon) Gillis-Potthoff and John Gillis, Lukas, Madeline, Jacob and Adam Earle; great-grandchildren: Kacie Carney, Marley Potthoff and Lydia Potthoff; brothers: Lee (Connie), Leroy (Debbie) and Leonard (Kathy) Menting; in-laws: Iva Menting, Nancy (Bob) Nemecek, Bob (Vicki) Vosters, Mary Simpson, Carol McMillan, LeeAnn (Chuck) Janssen and Gary (Amy) Vosters; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Eunice (Kinker) Kuehl, Dan (Patty) Menting, Tom Menting and Roger (Kay) Menting; father- and mother-in-law: Butch and Doris Vosters; brother-in-law: Ken Vosters; and sister-in-law: Nellie Vosters. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace St., Combined Locks. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. A celebration of Bernie's life will take place after the Mass at Hollanders in Little Chute. If you are unable to attend Mass, please still join us for the celebration from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
