Arnold Breitung

Arnold W. Breitung

May 26, 1934 -March 2, 2025 - The LORD, in His mercy and grace called Arnold Willis Breitung home to heaven on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Arnold had reached the age of 90 years, 9 months and 4 days when the LORD took him from this earthly life to his eternal home. Arnold was born on May 26, 1934, at the Breitung farm near Revillo, S.D. to Alex Breitung Jr. and Sadie (Varner) Breitung. He was baptized on Dec. 2, 1934, in St. John Lutheran Church, Revillo, S. D. by Reverend George Walz. Sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. William E Krause.

Arnold attended a country school near Revillo, S.D. and later in Clear Lake, S.D. following the family’s move to Clear Lake in 1946. Arnold was confirmed on May 23, 1948, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, S.D. He participated in baseball and football at Clear Lake High School, while his recreational activities consisted of hunting, fishing, trapping and working on the family farm. Following his high school graduation on May 20, 1952, Arnold worked three years on the family farm near Clear Lake. At that time, he felt called to the teaching ministry of his church. He graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn., on May 8, 1959, and accepted the call to teach third, fourth, and sometimes fifth grades at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Kaukauna for 15 years. When time permitted, Arnold spent his free time fishing and assisting Charlie and Mary Buerth. He resigned his call at the end of the 1974 school year and began working for Heart of the Valley Metropolitan Sewage District. He was employed at Heart of the Valley until his retirement in May 1994. He enjoyed meeting with his LORD at church every week, gardening, singing in the choir; visiting South Dakota relatives and fishing.     Many of his students at Trinity became his lifelong friends and were a tremendous assistance to him as he aged. He lived in Greenfield Manor in Little Chute for two years until his health deteriorated, and he entered assisted living in Appleton Retirement Center. Pastor Draper was able to visit him in his last hours as well as Rich (nephew) and Kathy McGeorge. Praise the LORD for calling His servant home to Heaven. Arnold is survived by one brother: David Breitung, St. Peter Minn.; and many and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Doreen McGeorge Eisenbraun, and Ruth Walter as well as one brother; Marvin Breitung, Muncie, Ind. Funeral services will be officiated by Reverend Stanley Draper on Saturday, April 5, with visitation at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the Trinity Church cemetery, Kaukauna. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fox Valley Lutheran High School or a charity of the donor’s choice.
