Cobblestone Hotel & Suites cuts ribbon in Downtown Little Chute

Little Chute’s downtown hotel officially opened with a Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting last week.
The Cobblestone Hotel is very much a family operation, with Nicole Lemens serving as the owner, with members of her family on hand for the ribbon cutting.

Kaukauna Utilities dealing with sinkhole in power canal


Brian Roebke photo Michels Corp. is building a coffer dam around the scour in the hydroelectric power canal in Kaukauna so the water can be removed and repairs can be made.
A sinkhole has developed in the Badger hydroelectric power canal in Kaukauna, forcing Kaukauna Utilities to shut down the canal and hydro plant.

Kaukauna Utilities hires new general manager to succeed retiring Feldt

Kaukauna Utilities has hired Michael Avanzi as the new general manager for the community’s not-for-profit electric and water utilities. Avanzi will take over the role of current General Manager Jeffery Feldt, who will soon retire after 20 years of service to KU and 40 years in the utility industry.

Correction

The accident photo in last week’s paper incorrectly labeled the vehicle at fault of an accident between a truck pulling the boat and a SUV. The truck pulling the boat failed to yield for the stop sign and hit the SUV.

Half of Wisconsinites now fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced last week that half of the state’s entire population have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series. Nearly 3 million Wisconsinites are fully vaccinated, including over 60 percent of adults.

Highway N, OO closed for maintenance work

This Outagamie County Highway Department is working on a pair of projects that will affect Little Chute residents.
The first is rubblizing the existing concrete pavement and placing a new asphalt overlay on a segment of Highway N from Highway OO to Highway 96 (Madison Street).
