Common Council approves move to extend Kaukauna Housing Authority loan


Brian Roebke photo The Kaukauna Housing Authority has revised its loan with the City of Kaukauna to pay for improvements to the Golden Venture Apartments on the city’s south side.
The Kaukauna Redevelopment Authority’s work to improve the various structures involved in the Golden Venture Apartment complex took a longer financial road recently with the proposed change of a 15-year loan involving the city to a new 40-year loan.

McKinley Paper Company, a U.S. subsidiary of Mexico-based Bio PAPPEL, has purchased Midwest Paper Group for an undisclosed amount of money, doubling its production in the U.S. and achieving combined income annually by $3 billion.

Kaukauna to see busy construction season at Grignon Mansion and elsewhere


Brian Roebke photo The historic Grignon Mansion in Kaukauna will be a prominent construction site this summer. Bids are expected to be let soon for work that will repair a number of exterior concerns including the mansion porches, the second floor balcony and additional exterior areas of rot and woodpecker damage.
Woodpeckers won’t be the only residents noticing changes in their Kaukauna habitat this year. At the Jan. 31 Kaukauna Board of Public Works meeting, City Engineer and Public Works Director John Neumeier laid out an impressive array of work to be done at the Grignon Mansion but also on city streets, various properties and bridges.

Harrison selects Blackmer as new village president

Allison Blackmer, who previously served 10 years as Harrison Town Board chair, was appointed last week to fill the term of village president through April 2023, filling the term vacated with the resignation of Kevin Hietpas.
