Vehicle considered a total loss in car wash fire


Chad Brewer photo — The fire at the Best Wash car wash at 2600 Konkapot Trail Road in Kaukauna was already venting through the roof of the structure with heavy smoke and flames showing when firefighters arrived on the scene.
The Kaukauna Fire Department was dispatched to the Best Wash car wash located at 2600 Konkapot Trail Road on Wednesday, June 1, at 3:19 p.m. for a report of a truck on fire inside one of the wash bay areas.

Construction underway for hangar expansion at Appleton Flight Center

Construction has started on a hangar expansion at its Appleton Flight Center, the facility that serves general aviation aircraft at Appleton International Airport. The 32,770 sq. ft. hangar will cost $7.2 million and is federally funded through the 2022 CARES Act. Construction is expected to be complete in fall of 2023.

Firefighters descend on Kaukauna for ‘Fire Ops 101’

Local 1594 members Ryan Steffel and Sam Klimek hosted City of Kaukauna HR Director Shanon Swaney and Mayor Tony Penterman to “Fire Ops 101” on Wednesday, May 25. 
The event, hosted by Madison College and Madison Firefighters Local 311, gave elected and appointed officials a real life “day in the life” of a firefighter.

A home on Fontana Way in Buchanan was severely damaged Friday evening, May 19.
Combined Locks Fire & Rescue, Buchanan Fire & Rescue and Harrison Fire Rescue were dispatched to a residence on Fontana Way around 8:41 p.m.for a report of a possible chimney fire.
