WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Saturday was a great day for the WIAA State Cross Country Championships at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. With temperatures in the low 60s, it was ideal weather for runners to show their talents.

Little Chute entered its second-round playoff game giving up just 62 yards a game rushing this season on defense. Xavier’s offense came in averaging 257 yards a game rushing.
Something had to give, and on Friday night, the Mustangs won the battle and the game.

SLINGER — The WIAA put the Kaukauna football team on the road for the Division 2 playoffs this year and the Galloping Ghosts have been road warriors, defeating the second straight higher seeded team on Friday night at Slinger.

After a thrilling five set semifinal win, the Kimberly Papermakers finished one step short of going to the state tournament. The Papermakers train ran out of steam as they ended their season with a sweep against conference foe Appleton North at Green Bay Preble last week.

The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts boys volleyball team ended their season in another hard fought battle with their rivals from Kimberly. The Ghosts were eliminated from the WIAA playoffs on the road in four sets (19-25, 25-23, 21-25, 20-25).

The Kaukauna girls cross country team took third in the WIAA state championships in Wisconsin Rapids last week. Sydney Fauske led the way with an 18th place finish of 19:24.80, while her sister Reese ran a 22nd place time of 19:31.30.
