My honest answer? I’m really not sure. Sometimes it feels like they do, sometimes it feels like they don’t. Sometimes it feels like we need athletes — some of whom have very powerful voices, whether you like to admit it or not — to speak up on issues in our society, because they have the ability to affect change where and when it’s needed.
