Mary Werner

Mary Werner - Kaukauna - On Jan. 29, 2022, Mary Werner was called to her eternal rest. Mary was born on March 10, 1936, in Kaukauna, a community she would make her lifelong home. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1954 and then attended the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh where she would earn her teaching degree. It was there she would meet the love of her life, Dallas. In 1960 they were married and together began their teaching careers in the Kaukauna Area School District where they made their home. Mary emersed herself in every aspect of her life. Teaching was Mary’s calling as her dedication to her students and fellow teaching constituents was her priority throughout her career. Her love of biology was always shared with her children and grandchildren. Community service was another one of Mary’s passions. Her love of biology served her well on the 1000 Islands Environmental Center board, where she helped make the center a reality for the community she loved. Her lifelong work serving as a member of the King’s Daughters and Kaukauna Health Associates allowed her opportunities to give back to a community that was such an important part of her life. A strong Christian faith was also a cornerstone of who Mary was. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel UCC from baptism until her final breath. She served her Lord there in so many ways. Countless committees, church president and church council, Sunday school teacher, singing in the choir and ringing joyous songs to the heavens in bell choir. She loved her church and all who she knew there. It was a place she graciously gave of her time, talents and treasures. Mary’s greatest passion in life were friends and family. She was blessed with a large circle of friends she made through her passion for living. They shared, celebrated and comforted each other in good times and bad without fail throughout her life. Family was Mary’s most treasured gift. Mary and Dallas, through their incredible love for each other, put family first every day. Mary was a loving daughter and daughter-in-law and cared for both her moms as they aged. Mary and Dallas always put each other first which allowed them to each grow into the person God envisioned them to be. They were leaders, servants, and role models in their community. They deeply loved their children and provided them with the daily love, encouragement and faith in Jesus Christ they needed in life. This was a lifelong commitment which they always provided even when they were facing challenges of their own. The lord blessed Mary and Dallas with eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They were the ultimate joy of her life. Holidays and birthdays were always special events and opportunities for sharing of a meal, gifts, and simply time together. Life’s big or little accomplishments were always celebrated and any event was always attended. Time spent at the cottage or trips taken as a large family were cherished. She was a proud mother and grandmother and always loved to share with others about the lives of her family. She felt so blessed that all her family was so close and that she had the opportunity to be involved in their lives. Her community, her friends and family were truly blessed to have been impacted by her presence in life. She will be missed and all the wonderful memories she is a part of will be cherished. Mary was proceeded in death by her parents: Martin and Helen Feldmann, her brother: Duane Feldmann, and her loving husband of 54 years: Dallas Werner. She is survived by her two children: Brad (Sara) Werner and Wendi (Brad) Jedwabny; eight grandchildren: Keegan (Justin) Baur, Kylie (Terry) Waters, Zachary Werner, Annalise Werner, Haley Corcoran, Olivia Jedwabny, Maya Corcoran, and Jenna Jedwabny, and one great-grandchild: Greyson Waters. The memorial service for Mary Werner will be held on Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 510 Sullivan Ave., Kaukauna. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to give a special thanks to the 4th floor team at St Elizabeth Hospital. In these difficult times they were truly amazing in their care of Mary and their compassion for our family. Covid did not allow us the opportunity to be with her in her last days yet they helped us to communicate to her our love and support. They were there to comfort her in a way we could not and we are so very grateful for this. Bless all of you and thank you for the daily sacrifices you make for others.
