Jimmy Huss “Jim” - Age 78, died Tuesday Feb. 15, 2022, at St Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Jim was born in Kaukauna on Nov. 17, 1943, to the late Lester and Ellen (Arnoldussen) Huss. Jim attended University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education and mathematics. Jim was an incredibly intelligent hard-working man who taught mathematics at Freedom High School while at the same time starting H&H Construction, which he operated for more than 40 years. Jim had a reputation for building homes of the utmost quality and with an impeccable attention to detail. Jim was a proud and strong patriot and advocate of the United States of America, and a fierce and courageous, albeit oftentimes a bit stern, protector of his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and a highly skilled hunter man and fisherman. Jim was also a master at creating and continually perfecting his own recipes for handmade venison sausages loved greeting family and friends with “here, I got something for you to try – you’re gonna really like this one.” Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years: Barbara Wetzel-Huss; children: Lisa (Bruce) Van Schyndel and Shelly (Glenn Forbis) Huss; step-daughters: Wendy (Rick) Wetzel-Carter, Stacy Wetzel; grandchildren: Jeremy James (Mandy) Van Schyndel, Adam Van Schyndel, Mandy (Brandon) Remter, Michael James Hokenstad Camryn Hokenstad; step-grandchildren: Ryan Carter, Mariah Schramm; great-grandchildren: Trenton James, Tenley, Talon, Emma and Tay Van Schyndel and Bentley and Berkley Remter; step-great-grandchildren: Aiden and Ella Pearl, and Caroline and sisters-in-law: Elaine Huss, Maggie Huss, Cynthia Kollath. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings: Alvina (Eugene) De Bruin, Clifford (Ruth, Elaine) Huss, Archie Huss, and Harvey Huss and brother-in-law: Richard Kollath.
