Patricia Vanderloop

Patricia Vanderloop - Age 93, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on March 15, 2022. She has been received in to the loving arms of our Lord Jesus and joined her loving husband Leon in the eternity of joy and blessing. Pat was born in Manitowoc on June 27, 1928, to Helen (Madigan) Greenwood and George R. Greenwood. Pat attended St. Mary School in 1942. She also attended Kaukauna High School and graduated in 1946. She was joined in marriage to Leon Vanderloop on May 28, 1949. Pat and Leon farmed in Hollandtown for 10 years. Pat loved the St. Francis Parish and was quite active. Pat and Leon lived in Little Chute for a short time before moving to Kaukauna in 1961 and the St. Mary Parish for 41 years. Her parishes and her faith were always an important part of her life: catholic education, choir, homebound communion, committees, picnics, and many others faith based activities. She returned to St. Francis in 2000. The Kaukauna Alumni Association was special to her since 1956. She edited the alumni news, elected and served on the boards thru the years until now. After graduating from KHS in 1946, a group of girls from her class began to meet every other week to keep up with what they were doing: boyfriends, engagements, hope chests, etc. After they were all married it became their “club.” It was their support group and best friends for the next 70 years. There were eight of them, sometimes six, or four as God willed. Our dear mother leaves us with these special words: “I would like to thank my children, my faithful friends, and wonderful neighbors who made it possible for me to stay in my home by treating me far better than I deserved. My family is the only reason for my life. They keep me going and feeling like they care about me, even though I can do less and less each day. I would love to care for them as I once did but I guess it is not in HIS plan. HE is in charge (always was) not me even though I thought I was!!! I always knew I need HIS help, through HIS mother Mary!! But I know because of HIM I did some good stuff. I love all my children so much; each one differently because they are each one different. HE made no two alike. We are all HIS, in HIS image; our bodies Temples of the Holy Spirit. My life has been one of privilege from the day I was born, only good people have surrounded me. My husband was always kind, caring, and faithful and I felt truly loved for almost 65 years. He truly loved and cherished us all!!” Pat is survived by eight children: Thomas (Linda) Vanderloop of Menomonie, Wis.; Timothy (Jill) Vanderloop of Appleton; Patricia (Keith) Coleman of Gilbert, Ariz.; Richard (Suzanne) Vanderloop of Kaukauna; David (Gail) Vanderloop of Kaukauna; Helen (Jim) Panetti of De Pere; Peter (Syd) Vanderloop of Edenton, N.C.; and Martin (Sherry) Vanderloop of Neenah. She will also be missed by many  grandchildren: Aaron, Jordan, Elizabeth, Molly, Heidi, Hanna, Ellie, Greta, Lori, Tami, Kari, Ryan, Rachael, Robert, Lisa, David, Nathan, Sarah, Adam, Justin, Michael, Lauren, Josh, Matt, Zack, Bryton, Lucas, Henry IV, Kendrick, Alexandria, and Zerek; many great-grandchildren: Darby, Jaiden, Ashley, Emma, Isabel, Owen, Sammy, Lily, Maren, Kendra, Blake, Jacoby, Maryn, Madysen, Maverick, Josephine, Asher, Hadley, Christian, Dominic, Noah, Rayna, Clare, Norah, Ellie, Gabriel, Leo, Jayden, Lorraine, Charlotte, Colin, Logan, Jada, Maesyn, Malorie, Aalyah, Brooklyn, Corbin, Winston, Elias, Nolan, Evelyn, Haiven, Bracken, Henry V, Charles, Robert, Oliver and Livia; and a great-great-grandson: Ira. There is also one sister: Margaret (Thomas) Vanevenhoven of Yuba City, Calif., and one brother: Lawrence Greenwood of Little Chute. The funeral liturgy for Patricia will be held at noon on Thursday March 24, at St Katharine Drexel Parish (St. Francis Church) in Hollandtown. Monsignor Jim VandenHogen, Fr. David McElroy, and Fr. Willie Van De Loo will officiate. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. in St. Mary Cemetery in Kaukauna. Family and friends are invited to gather at church on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to everyone at St. Elizabeth for the extra special care that mom received while there. The doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and all for the caregivers where so kind, gracious, loving, and compassionate. Our grateful family will never forget all that you have done for us. We would also like to offer our sincere thanks to ThedaCare Cancer Center for providing excellent care over that last few months allowing our mother the ability to stay in her home, which was her desire. We will always remember Pat as a loving caring and compassionate woman who loved everyone bringing joy to those in need. She always had an open door policy bringing comfort to those who needed it. She was always a teacher of life, love, and of God’s grace. She was always dedicated to her family, friends, and to God.
