Martin Wynboom

Martin Peter Wynboom - Age 81, peacefully passed away on April 13, 2022, at the Appleton ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. Marty was born on Jan. 22, 1941, to Martin and Frances Wynboom in the village of Little Chute. In 1957, Marty met the love of his life, Diane Verstegen, at an outdoor concert. Marty and Diane married on Nov. 12, 1963, and went on to have three children: Doug, Missy and Marcia. Marty worked at Thilmany Paper Company for over 45 years and retired in 2003. On October 11, 2014, Marty was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a member of the South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Appleton. Marty is survived by Diane, his wife of 59 years; his son: Doug (Kelly) Wynboom; his daughter: Melissa (Brian) Navoichick; and his daughter: Marcia (James) Pleshek. Marty is survived by six grandchildren: Dustin Wynboom, Tyler (Zeyno) Navoichick, Tiffany (Ryan) Curtis, Brandon (Samantha) Pleshek, Brittany (Spencer) Schroeder and Troy (Xana) Navoichick; eight great-grandchildren: Kayla (who is named after her Aunt), Liam, Stella, Elliana, Elias, Emilia, Ethan and Elliott; sister-in-law, RoseAnn Wynboom; and many dear nieces and nephews. Marty is preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Frances Wynboom; his four brothers: Kenneth (Carol) Wynboom, Simon Wynboom, Richard (Shari) Wynboom and James Wynboom; granddaughter: Kayla Wynboom; nephew: Larry; and niece Emberly. Marty was a very loving, kind, and generous person. He was always concerned about others. He truly loved life and wanted to share his joy and happiness with everyone which made his family bigger and merrier! As a boy Marty loved caring for animals. He had fond memories of spending time with his childhood friend Ed Bain. Many times he would mention how Ed invited him to his first meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses over 70 years ago. Marty’s father was the locktender in Little Chute. As a young man Marty would ride the barges and have breakfast with the crews as he visited different places and family members who lived along the Fox River. Marty bought his first car, a red ‘60 Pontiac, and enjoyed cruising with his sweetheart Diane (Deena) after school. Marty loved fishing and watching NASCAR. He also loved watching the Brewers and Packers. He always looked forward to traveling to Florida. Some of his favorite places were Daytona Beach and Disney World. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family … And the family loved spending time with ‘Papa!’ Marty’s family has many fond memories of being together with family and friends at Pineland Park, Harbor Village and Fox Hills. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Marty had a very strong faith in the Bible’s promise for the future. He took great comfort knowing that soon all the sadness and suffering we see today will be gone and the entire earth will be transformed into a beautiful paradise. (Psalm 37: 11, 29) Marty would take every opportunity to share his hope with others. Especially the promise found at Revelation 21: 3, 4 where God promises that … “death will be no more.” Before he passed away Marty told his family members that he wants to see each one of them in perfect health in the paradise on earth. ‘Papa’ promised to bring cookies for everyone at our family reunion to come! The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Appleton ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, the Palliative and Hospice Care Team and the many health professionals that provided wonderful care for Marty over the years. Special thanks and gratitude to the South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Appleton for their generous love and support during this difficult time. The family would also like to express appreciation to Marty’s close neighbors who were always helpful and kind. Services will be held via Zoom on Sunday, April 24, at 4:30 pm.
