Donna Hameister (Liebergen) - Age 79, passed away Aug. 6, 2022, surrounded by her family. Donna was born on Oct. 6, 1942, and grew up in Freedom. She graduated from Freedom High School in 1960 and then married the love of her life, Jim Hameister, in 1963. They then moved to Appleton and shared 59 years together there. Donna worked several different jobs throughout her life, with the last one being her favorite. She was able to take advantage of her green thumb and designing skills while working for Riverside Greenhouse. Donna was a woman of many talents. She was amazing with a sewing machine and knitting needle. She was able to design and make clothing for her granddaughter with special needs when clothing off the rack would not fit. She was also known for her chocolate chip cookies, desserts, and her cake decorating skills. About 20 years ago Jim purchased a Model A Ford and together they joined the Nickle A Region Model A Club. Donna may not have loved the cars as much as Jim, but she loved and cherished the friendships she made with people in the club. Typical of Donna, she was also the club’s Sunshine Lady. Like many Wisconsinites she was a very loyal Bucks, Badgers, and Packers fan. She enjoyed country music and the occasional polka. Jim and Donna took many family vacations when the kids were younger as well as later on. They ended up visiting 48 states and nine Canadian provinces. It was Donna’s wish that this obituary also include a thank you to medical staff who assisted her the last few years as well as the many great neighbors she had since moving to Appleton. In both cases there are just too many to mention by name. If there is perhaps one thing that personifies this wonderful woman it’s her selflessness. Even on her deathbed her last few thoughts and words were not about her struggles, but about her concern for her family. Donna was a lovely wife, mother, and friend. Donna was preceded in death by her parents: Eugene and Rosemary Liebergen; brothers: Eugene Jr. and John; Father- and mother in-law: Ervin and Verna Hameister; and granddaughter: Ella Hameister. Two spoiled poodles: Hershey and Midnight, also passed on before Donna. Survivors include her husbandd: Jim; daughter: Sue (Pat) Borree; son: Joe (Ann) Hameister; grandson: Josh (Laura) Borree; sisters: Nancy (Ken) Van Den Heuvel, Darlene (Dennis) Woods; brother: Mike (Donna) Liebergen; and brother- and sister in-law: Don and Donna Hameister. The funeral mass for Donna will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna. Visitation will be at church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Donna wanted all in attendance to feel free to wear their favorite Packers and/or Model A attire at her celebration.
