Viola Otto

Viola Otto - Age 100, passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 30, 1922 in the town of Fremont, the daughter of the late John and Louise (Beilke) Prust. Viola married Joseph Mathis on June 2, 1944, and he passed away Aug. 26, 1956. She married Raymond Otto on Nov. 1, 1958. Viola lived in Kaukauna all her married life. She was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Kaukauna and a member of their Ladies Aide. Viola enjoyed their cottage on Lake Winnebago and loved sturgeon spearing, fishing, gardening and canning. She also dabbled in wine making and enjoyed going to Packer games. Viola is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Edwin) Meissner, Marshfield, and Judy (Henry) Hoelzel, Appleton; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Jean Mathis, and Robin Mathis; sisters-in-law: Vera Prust and Mary Gerrits; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: Joseph and Raymond, two sons: William and Steve Mathis, two sisters and two brothers. The funeral service for Viola will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m. at Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna.
