Kathleen Hooyman

Kathleen M. Hooyman - Age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with a rare form of Alzheimer’s. She was born on March 12, 1958, in Kaukauna to Donald and Doris (Combs) Kavanaugh. Kathy attended St. Mary Catholic School, where she made many great memories, and later graduated from Appleton East High School in 1976. She married the love of her life, Mark Hooyman, on June 25, 1977. In the late 1980’s, Kathy went back to school and received her associate’s degree in accounting. She then worked for Tom Meiers Motors for over 25 years. Kathy loved to travel with her husband and their family. She also had a passion for genealogy, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy will be remembered for her kind heart and always putting her loved ones first. Kathy is survived by her loving husband: Mark Hooyman; her three children: Michael (Jodi) Hooyman, Josh (Kristi) Hooyman, and Jeni (Ron) Kain; grandchildren: Brandon, Shyanne, Liam, Owen, Karrigan Cathleen, and Kaiden; one great-grandchild: Sam; her father and step-mother: Don and Marilyn Kavanaugh; her step-father: Clay (Lola) LeMere; siblings: Judy Kavanaugh, Donald Jr. Kavanaugh, Lorri (fiancé Ray) Kavanaugh, and Bruce (Jeanette) Kavanaugh; and her step-siblings: Mark (Cathy) Staeven and Scott (Debb) Staeven. Kathy is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother: Doris LeMere; and her parents-in law: Alois and Mary Hooyman. A prayer service for Kathy will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna location, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service.
