Meri DeBruin

Meri E. DeBruin (Valentyne) - Combined Locks - Age 71, entered the loving arms of the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from a very rare lung disease. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Dec. 21, 1952, and was the rock of her family, and became the matriarch of the DeBruin family after Lari's parents passed away. She cherished Lari, her boys, her daughters-in-law, and especially her grandchildren who she loved to spend time with.  Meri will forever be remembered for being kind, selfless, caring, patient, and strong. She was never judgmental, and was accepting of whatever life threw her way. To know her was to love her, and everyone who knew her was blessed to have her in their life.  Gatherings at her home were always filled with love and laughter. Weekends at the lake were some of Meri's favorite times. She also enjoyed her girls adventures, and trips with their many friends.  Meri is survived by her loving husband: Lari DeBruin; four sons: Ben (Jen), Eric (Keri), Danny (Katie) and Troy (Beth) DeBruin; grandchildren: Leighton DeBruin, Mason and Brayden Skorstad, Mae and Louisa DeBruin, Silas and Sully DeBruin, Karleigh and Cameron DeBruin; brother: Dave (Carol) Valentyne; in-laws: Deb (Timm) McCormick, Tammy (Marty) Van Stippen and Steve (Ramona) DeBruin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Meri was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Sis Valentyne; a brother and sister-in-law: Denny (Jan) Valentyne; sister-in-law: Sandie Valentyne; and father and mother-in-law: Clayton and Toby DeBruin.  Memorial services were held Jan. 29 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A memorial is being established in Meri’s name to benefit the Children’s Hospital.
