Karren Pamperin-Chouinard

Karren Sherry Pamperin-Chouinard - (Brandt) - Age 91, passed away Jan. 10, 2014, in Austin, Texas. Karren was born in Rhinelander on Feb. 12, 1932, to Thorwald Sherry of Viroqua, and Maryann Kirk of Rhinelander. Karren could often be found at her father’s Ford dealership in Appleton, Sherry Motors. Karren lived in Kaukauna and the Valley for more than 40 years and was a true “trail blazer” with BS degrees from UW-Oshkosh, Masters in reading from UW-Madison and Ph.D. in education from UW- Madison. Karren worked for more than 30 years as a teacher and principal at Little Chute Elementary School. Karren was the FIRST elected female of the Northeastern Wisconsin Principals Association, a life-long member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, Pi Epsilon Omega Sorority, active in the Elks Club, a golfer and dedicated bridge player. After her retirement, Karren, an avid reader and accomplished lifelong artist, moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark., where she painted watercolors daily from her home on Lake Cortez with second husband, Donald Pamperin of Milwaukee. At her death, Karren had painted more than 200 pictures. Karren met Richard J. Brandt of Kaukauna, in Rockford, Ill., married in Appleton, moved to Kaukauna in 1953, and had two sons: Kirk R. Brandt, Austin, Texas, and Corey J. Brandt. She is preceded in death by Richard Brandt, Corey Brandt, Milwaukee; half-sister: Mignon (Jerry) Khuenol, Bellevue, Wash.; and Donald Pamperin, Hot Springs Village, Ark. She is survived by Kirk (Louise) Brandt, Austin, Texas; granddaughters: Nicole Sherry Brandt, Austin, Texas, Mallory (DeShaun) Aslan Sellers, Columbus, Ohio; step-children: Bev (Bill) Wdowicki, Milwaukee and Ken (Cindy) Pamperin, Mo. She is also survived by half-brother: Thomas (Carol) Sherry, Middleton, Colo., half sisters: Mary Ann (Frank) Schraum, Tumwater, Wash., Michelle (Larry) Duggins, Montesano, Wash., Megan Jantzer, Westport, Wash.; and third husband: Thomas Chouinard, Boise, Idaho. Karren will be laid to rest at Christ of the Hills Methodist Church, Hot Springs Village, Ark., in the Memorial Garden.
