After 22 seasons at the helm of the Papermakers’ girls’ basketball program, Troy Cullen decided it was time to step aside.

A flood of messages started coming through on Troy Cullen’s phone.
Via text, calls and social media, former and current coaches and players were reaching out to the longtime Kimberly girls’ basketball coach to congratulate him.

McKayla VanHandel threw a no-hitter through the first four innings of last week’s softball game against Waupaca, played at Little Chute High School.
What a difference three weeks made for the Little Chute softball team.
The Mustangs were beaten by Waupaca 15-0 in their season opener on April 5. The Little Chute players were determined to not let that happen again in a rematch on April 26.

Logan Salzmann leads the pack in the early stage of the 1600 meter run Friday. He finished second at 4:36 and fourth in the 3200 at 9:51.
The Kimberly boys team had a big win in Friday’s home track and field meet, the 10-team Gil Frank Invitational.
Kimberly was first with 174.25 points and West De Pere was runnerup with 149. Kaukauna was fourth and Little Chute sixth.

After playing for Division II Winona State University for the past four seasons, Kimberly High School graduate Alec Rosner has decided to use his fifth season to transfer to play at Western Illinois as a graduate transfer. The NCAA granted all players an extra year of eligibility because of the 2021 COVID-19 marred season.
When Alec Rosner was being recruited out of high school, Division I basketball programs didn’t show much interest in the Kimberly product.

Landon Krause, a 2020 Kimberly graduate, had a phenomenal sophomore season at William Penn University, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics member. It was capped off by being named the American Volleyball Coaches Association NAIA National Player of the Year.
Two concussions during his freshman season playing Division I volleyball took their toll on Landon Krause.
Those proved to be major setbacks. He debated ending his college volleyball career. However, after transferring schools, Krause’s health was back to normal and he returned to the court.

Kimberly High School’s boys and girls track and field teams fared well in the Wisconsin State Indoor Track and Field Championships held Saturday at UW-Whitewater.
Cam Wnek and the boys 4x2 meter relay team were champions.
Kimberly senior Jackson Paveletzke showed his selection as player of the year in the Fox Valley Association this past season was on point, scoring 53 points to lead the North team to a 157-139 victory over the South in the FVA All-Star Classic, held Sunday night at Kaukauna High School.
