Duerwaechter named Elks Citizen of the Year

Mark Duerwaechter’s last Kau-kauna school board meeting was full of compliments on June 13. 
Jerry Brien of the Kaukauna Elks Club presented the outgoing superintendent with the group’s Citizen of the Year award for all the work he did for 10 years in the district.

Grignon Mansion renovations underway

Time, and woodpeckers, has taken a toll on the “Mansion in the Woods” that is now without a woods following the removal of all the elm trees around the house this past winter.

Charles A. Grignon built a Greek revival style mansion as a wedding gift for his Pennsylvanian bride, Mary Elizabeth Meade in 1837. This stately home was known as “The Mansion in the Woods” to countless travelers.

Kaukauna Community Players to induct three into hall of fame

The Kaukauna Community Players will induct three more alumni into its hall of fame on Friday evening prior to the 7 p.m. performance of Cinderella at the Bernie Hupperts Center for the Performing Arts at Kaukauna High School.
The inductees are M. Scott Bay, Katie M. Schmidt, and AJ (Vanden Heuvel) Westbrook.

Vande Hey brings audience back 50 years at Kaukauna alumni rally

Security presents $10,000 check to Kimberly Firefighters for fireworks

For the third year in a row, Security-Luebke Roofing and its owner, Shannon Alberts, presented a $10,000 donation to the Kimberly Firefighters to cover two-thirds of the costs of their annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show at Sunset Park.
