Kimberly’s Tanner Hart is returning to the WIAA state wrestling tournament after placing second in the 157-pound bracket at Kimberly High School on Saturday.
HOWARD - The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts wrestling team will again have the chance to earn another championship at team state in Madison. The Ghosts earned wins over Pulaski and Bay Port last week to earn their chance at a fourth consecutive state championship.
A fourth foul on 6-10 senior Jon O’Neill sent the University of New Hampshire recruit to the bench with the Ghosts holding a 43-33 lead Monday night over Fond du Lac with the outcome of the game still very much in doubt.
It took a while but the Kaukauna boys pulled away from Oshkosh West Friday night, 76-59 after holding just a three-point lead at halftime in the Fox Valley association game played at Kaukauna.

A second half run doomed the Kimberly boys basketball team last week. After leading by one at the halftime break, the Papermakers were outscored by 21 points in the second half of a loss to Oshkosh North.
The Little Chute girls basketball losing streak hit 28 last week. The Mustangs suffered a road loss to the Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes in conference action.
Kaukauna junior Addison Baumgart is on a double digit scoring rampage. The junior has now scored in double figures in nine straight games including a 25 point performance last weeks against Oshksoh West.
Kimberly junior Kate McGinnis is inching closer to the 1,000 point milestone. McGinnis added in three more double digit performances last week as she eclipsed 900 points in her career. She currently sits at 906 in her career.
Kimberly’s Tyler Van Gompel and Hayden Hollenbeck are both headed to the state swim meet this week. Van Gompel qualified in two individual events, while Hollenbeck qualified in the 100 yard breast stroke.
