The Little Chute Mustangs let one slip away after getting 11 strikeouts from UW-Platteville commit Ethan Melendrez. After taking a 4-1 lead in the fourth, the Oconto Falls Panthers scored four unanswered to hand the Mustangs a 5-4 loss in eight innings.

The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts softball team is back on the winning track. In their first game since last year’s state semifinal loss to Milton, Paige Bodenheimer helped the Ghosts get their first win of the season with three hits in a 7-1 road win over Middleton.

Pitching was stellar on Saturday for the Kaukauna baseball team as their pitching staff combined for double digit strikeouts in their season opening win over Ashwaubenon. In a 7-0 win, Bron Schaefer had seven, while Carson Gates had four for the Ghosts.

Sprangers wins indoor state championship in shot put

Hunter Sprangers and Sawyer Hanlon headlined the WIAA indoor meet at UW-Whitewater last week. Sprangers won the shot put title with a finish of 62-06.5, while Hanlon took fourth with a throw of 55-08.5.
