Both Kimberly volleyball teams went 4-1 in weekend tournaments last week. The boys took second in the Brookfield East invite, while the girls had a strong showing in a tournament at Notre Dame Academy.
HORTONVILLE – Bron Schaefer had a big second quarter for the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts last week. The junior threw three of his four touchdown passes after a scoreless first quarter during Kaukauna’s 35-7 conference opening win over Hortonville.
Kimberly junior running back Brady Bell stepped up big with starting running back Marcus Doucette being out with a collarbone injury. Bell had three touchdowns in the team’s 49-0 over Oshkosh West showing Kimberly’s strong running back depth.
WAUPACA – The Little Chute defense held their own last week as they pitched a second half shut out in their conference opening 14-8 win against Waupaca.
McKenna Lowe showed her athletic ability this week. In addition to posting a top 10 finish at the Freedom cross country invite, the senior posted impressive scores in Kaukauna’s two golf meets last week.
Elliana Martin and Claire Ellenbecker showed their leadership skills during Little Chute’s tournament play at The Barn in Menasha. Both had 11 kills, while Ellenbecker had seven service aces in the four matches played.
Kaukauna seniors Madison Tripp and Bo Kaschner will have the chance to play against each other in the same conference. Tripp has committed to play at Bemidji State, while Kaschner will play at Wayne State next fall.
The Kimberly Papermakers boys volleyball team started their season with three wins in the FVA vs. SEC challenge at St. Norbert College last week. The Papermakers beat Franklin along with two Kenosha area schools in Indian Trail and Wilmot during the invite.
