The Little Chute boys’ basketball team began the year with a 60-53 home loss against West De Pere Tuesday night, but responded quickly three nights later, winning its first North Eastern Conference matchup of the season 42-30 over Clintonville.
Junior girls Jessica Wilson and Ellah Pahl, along with sophomore Riley Huss, junior Mason Genke and senior Casey DeBoth were all named to the North Eastern Conference’s First-Team All-Conference squad for the 2020 fall season.
The Maker girls faced their stiffest test of the early season last Tuesday night as they welcomed Fox Valley Association rival Hortonville, and Kimberly passed with flying colors, using a dominant defense to take care of the Polar Bears 61-56 before destroying Fond du Lac Friday night and winning at Notre Dame on Saturday.
The Papermaker boys were expected to have a strong defense this season, and that certainly was the case Friday night in the team’s season opener, but it was the offense that put on a show as Kimberly hit the century mark, beating Fond du Lac on the road 105-65 to begin the year.
The Kaukauna wrestling team unwrapped its season on the road at Appleton West, meaning its 2020 campaign would begin with no fans as spectators currently are not allowed into any Appleton gyms.
The Kaukauna girls’ basketball team moved to 3-0 with two wins this week, first a 72-47 win over head coach Joe Russom’s former Appleton North squad and then a 62-39 win over Oshkosh West in its first road test of the winter.
The Kimberly girls’ basketball team got its season off to a quick start last week, crushing Fox Valley Association foe Appleton North 83-25 at home before winning handily again in a non-conference matchup with Wisconsin Rapids on Friday night, 78-49.
