Two high school teammates will be sharing the baseball field again together. Kimberly grad Cal McGinnis will be joining fellow Papermakers alum Donovan Schultz as he is transferring to the University of Evansville in Indiana for his next step in his college baseball journey.
Big run innings were pivotal in helping the Kaukauna Angels Legion baseball team advance last week. The Angels used big innings in two of their wins including their clinching game as they are headed to the state legion tournament this week in Marinette.
Jake Fritz and Payton Brandt led the way last week for the Kaukauna Legion offense despite the team suffering two more losses. Both had three hits in the team’s two games played against De Pere and Manitowoc.
Little Chute alum Casey DeBoth and high school runners Ashley Wilson and Elie Volheim-Bisek were among the top finishers during the 5K run at Paperfest last week. DeBoth had the top male finish with a time of 16:28, while Julia Webb had the top female finish with a time of 18:09.
Last month, Kimberly alum Spencer Herman had a chance to play on the USA D-3 volleyball team’s Brazil Tour. The senior saw it as an unbelievable experience after playing five games with the team.
Kimberly High School will be adding a new sport to the varsity side this spring. Last week, the Kimberly School Board approved the addition of boys and girls lacrosse to the sports offered at the school.
Ethan Melendrez continued his big Legion baseball season with two more hits last week against Wrightstown. He accounted for half of Little Chute’s hit production in their win over Wrightstown.
Oshkosh-Little Chute’s Hunter Thiel put an impressive cap on his high school football experience. Thiel scored the first touchdown for the North Small squad last weekend as he helped them earn a 44-12 win over the South squad.
