Kaukauna baseball ended season with regional loss

DE PERE – For the first 3 1/2 innings of their opening-round playoff game, the Kaukauna baseball team didn’t look like a No. 10 seed in their matchup on May 30. 
The Ghosts were picking up key hits in run-scoring opportunities, pitching well and making the plays on defense.

Kimberly baseball run ends in sectionals

PULASKI — The Kimberly Paper-makers baseball team saw their hopes at a state championship fall short last week. The Papermakers gave up five runs in the fifth as they were handed a 5-3 loss to De Pere in the sectional semifinals at Pulaski High School.

Aiden Cudney helped the Kimberly golf team reach new heights at the state championship meet at Blackwolf Run last week. Cudney tied for third, while Kimberly finished seventh at the meet.

Meredith named state’s Gatorade Player of the year

MADISON — Kaukauna sophomore pitcher Karly Meredith was also named the state’s Gatorade player of the year. Meredith is the fourth Galloping Ghosts softball player to win the award.

MADISON — No matter what his roster consisted of, Kaukauna softball coach Tim Roehrig wanted to show the state his program can continue to develop and build. His team’s third straight championship did that last weekend.

Kimberly baseball advances to sectionals

Brayden Deering helped get the Kimberly Papermakers baseball team to their 17th straight sectional appearance. Deering struck out 10 and only allowed a hit in Kimberly’s 9-0 win over Appleton East last week at home.

Kimberly golf headed to state meet

The Kimberly Papermakers golf team is headed to state after a second place finish in the Notre Dame sectional. The Papermakers scored 317 points as they finished just behind West De Pere, who scored 306 points in the sectional held on Thornberry Creek Golf Course last week.

Senior Drew Joten had his shining moment last week as he helped the Little Chute Mustangs earn a playoff win before their season ended last week. Joten threw a no hitter against Shawano and provided a key home run to help his team advance in last week’s action.
